Assalamu alaikum,
I set up Calm and Confident Parents to help mums and dads like you find peace and confidence in parenting while staying true to Islamic values. After years of working with children and families, studying how children develop and how parents can best support them, in 2013 I became a parent myself. My baby screamed for six to seven hours every day and was awake all night. I was exhausted. Doctors searched for answers, friends and family gave advice, but nothing worked.
One night, after a day of endless screaming, I fell to the floor holding my baby, my own tears streaming, begging Allah to help me give my baby what he needed. At that moment, something changed. I breathed slowly, remembering everything I had learned over the past decade, sifting through it all for knowledge I could apply to my situation, and took action.
Alhamdulillah, I got through that time—and many challenges afterwards. Later, with my second child, a toddler, further studies in Islamic studies with respected scholars, and training in behaviour and special educational needs, I still felt the pull of the world taking my children away from the path I wanted. So again, I sifted through all the knowledge Allah had given me over nearly two decades and made a plan. I questioned myself, “If with all my experience, I was struggling but managing to move forward, what about other parents, what about other children?”. That’s why I founded Calm and Confident Parents: so no Muslim parent has to face this alone or spend years gaining the knowledge and confidence they need, while watching their child slip away from their hands.
Many parents of children ranging from toddlers all the way to those in their twenties have now gone through my courses, and others have received personal coaching. Alhamdulillah, their Children have gone from anxious, peer-focused, and distant to strong, parent-oriented, and connected. Together, we’re building calmer homes rooted in love, respect, and Islamic values, and the parents are now secure in their efforts and trust that it is enough for their families and above that, for Allah.
Salaam my dear Sisters and Brothers,
Sabinah Rashid
